Commentary
Reverse recording reopen deck for higher quality recording by supporting EE tape and
loading Λ (lambda).
EE tape is a newly developed tape that uses a magnetic material for high-density recording.
It has been used as a video tape and a chrome tape for cassette decks, and boasts
a high coercive force and a large residual magnetic flux density.
In order to bring out the characteristics of this EE tape in GX-77, the newly designed
amplifier circuit, the sound-recording head, and the erasing head are carried, and the
high region characteristic is improved greatly by this EE tape correspondence.
In order to maximize the characteristics of the EE tape and further expand the dynamic range,
the constants of the playback equalizer at the EE position are 3180 + 35 (3180 + 50 at the
LH position) and 9.5 cm / s at 19 cm / s. It is set to 3180 + 50 (3180 + 90 in the LH position),
reducing the noise level and improving the dynamic range.
In addition, the basic characteristics related to compatibility other than the equalizer and
bias of the EE position conform to international standards such as IEC.
The mechanism part adopts the original Λ loading in which the tape runs in the shape of Λ,
so there is no need to route between tension arms and pinch rollers as in the past.
With the tape attached and the recording or playback switch turned on, the central loading roller
is differential and set to ideal driving conditions. In addition, since Λ loading is symmetrical,
uniform characteristics can be obtained for both round trips.
In the housing of Λ loading, each 3 head system for reciprocation is arranged symmetrically,
and the characteristic of uniform reciprocation is realized. Moreover, this structure does not
need to rotate or slide the head at the time of reverse, and the reverse time is shortened.
Moreover, the loading roller is carried in the center, and this roller divides a tape path into two
and improves the characteristic, and at the same time also acts as a scrape filter, and
suppresses modulation noise.
The head is equipped with a new GX head, which is a further improvement of the GX head
with excellent dynamic characteristics.
By making the shape of the tip of the head core a compound R type, the contour
effect is thoroughly improved and the swell and swelling in the low range are eliminated.
We have also strengthened the shield between tracks and succeeded in making low crosstalk.
Moreover, by adopting a powerful double gap erasing head for the erasing head,
a sufficient erasing rate is obtained even when using EE tape.
The FG servo DC motor is installed for the capstan drive, and the DC motor is installed for
the reel drive. Coupled with a specially finished high-precision capstan, stable running
is achieved on both round trips.
Furthermore, the tension servo is adopted so that the tape tension is always kept constant,
the tape running is made smoother, and the fluttering of a sound is eliminated.
A 0.4-second quick reverse is achieved by system control using a microcomputer,
a 6-head configuration with 3 reciprocating heads, and a 3-motor system with a double
capstan drive.
Equipped with a 3-stage switching reverse selector, one-way recording /
replaying on the outbound / inbound route, reciprocating recording / replaying from the outbound
/ inbound route, and endless playback are possible.
Real-time electronic digital counter with minute / second display, half-turn master volume
for ease of use, timer start mechanism for answering record, cue / review mechanism,
2-color 16-segment LED bar meter with max hold, output volume, ± 30 The% variable
bias adjustment volume is carried.
Remote control operation is possible with the remote control unit (sold separately).
