A stereo cassette deck that pursues the limits of cassettes and is equipped with functions such
as FRTS.
The tape selector which can switch 3 steps of a bias, 3 steps of a sound-recording equalizer,
and 2 steps of a play equalizer independently is carried.
The FRTS (Flat Response Tuning System) which can fine-tune the bias while looking directly
at the frequency characteristic is carried.
In FRTS, the test signal from the built-in mixed wave oscillator is recorded, and by
simultaneously monitoring this with the test head, the output levels of 400Hz and 8kHz
are displayed on the left and right meters. By turning the bias adjustment knob so that the left
and right needles swing equally, a flat point with frequency characteristics can be obtained.
To adjust the FRTS, first set the selector to the TEST position and then set the tape selector to
the tape type. After that, insert the tape and put it in the recording state. Then adjust the test
head azimuth. Turn the bias adjustment knob to find the optimum bias value that flattens
the frequency response.
It is equipped with a double needle meter that can simultaneously read two levels, the
general volume level felt by the human ear and the peak level included in the actual music
signal. In particular, the peak meter was newly examined for cassette decks, and by using
a 4-stage operational amplifier, sufficient performance such as response characteristics,
recovery time, and indication range has been obtained.
The peak level meter has a response characteristic of 10 mSec, a recovery time of
1.5 seconds, and an indication range of -40 dB to +10 dB.
The peak hold mechanism is carried and the peak level instruction of an input signal can be
held for a certain time by turning on a peak hold button. When a larger signal is input,
the maximum value is specified and held, making it easy to check the peak level of the program source. The peak hold time is 30 minutes (-1 dB).
A 38-pulse FG servo motor with a fast response speed is used for the motor, and the precision
of the tape transport parts such as the flywheel, capstan, and reel shaft is thoroughly pursued
to achieve excellent performance.
The cassette auto-loading mechanism is adopted, and if the tape is lightly pushed or the
cassette lid is closed, the cassette is automatically carried by the carrier. This mechanism
also protects the mechanism of the tape drive part because the fingertips do not come into
direct contact with the mechanism.
The limiter climate which prevents a sound-recording error at the time of an excessive input
is carried.
It has a built-in timer standby mechanism, and if you connect a timer and set the deck to
the recording standby state, recording will start automatically at the desired time. Also, if you
use it in the playback state, you can also play it as an alarm clock.
The non-contact type full auto stop mechanism using a Hall IC which combined a Hall
element and an IC is adopted.
This does not adversely affect the tape running and suppresses the generation of
unpleasant noise.
The Dolby system is carried as a noise reduction system.
Since the Dolby switch and MPX filter switch are linked, the frequency characteristics
can be improved by setting the MPX filter to OFF when recording Dolby for FM stereo broadcasting.
The player sink terminal is carried. By connecting to a record player with Aiwa's REC
sync terminal, the pause button on the deck will be released at the same time as the
player starts when recording a record.
The memory counter and the quick review queue function are carried.
There was a side wood as an option.
