DAT deck with 1-bit A/D converter and bitstream D/A converter.
The converter is equipped with a newly developed 1-bit A/D converter and a bitstream D/A converter (SAA7350).
Compared to the multi-bit method, this 1-bit method does not require consideration of problems
such as resistor errors and misalignment of operating timing, so it has excellent linearity and
does not occur in principle due to nonlinear distortion and zero-cross distortion.
Exactly the same device used in the PD-T07 D/A converter is used to reduce the conversion
error at the time of minute signals and improve linearity.
In order to eliminate the fluctuation of the clock signal, which is important in the 1-bit system,
a clean clock circuit is used in which the clock signal is separated from the audio system and
the digital system.
As a result, the oscillation of the clock that controls the system itself is cleared and driven
independently, resulting in high signal-to-noise and low distortion.
The head is equipped with a high-output AT (All Track) head developed by Pioneer's proprietary
precision technology.
The AT head features an AT structure with a uniform track processing of 20 μm with respect to
the track trace direction, glass is welded on both sides to improve wear resistance, and special
policing is applied to the gap, which is the entrance and exit of the signal, to achieve a more
stable tape touch.
In addition, by increasing the playback output level by 2~6dB, signal reading with low error rate
is realized.
It is equipped with an LP (long-term) mode that achieves twice the recording time of the SP
(standard) mode when recording analog input and digital input recording with a sampling
frequency of 32kHz. This makes it possible to record continuously for up to 4 hours on a
120-minute tape.
It is equipped with a TOC (Table of Contents) function that records information such as the time
of the program and the length of each song at the beginning of the tape. With this function, it is
possible to manage information such as the total number of songs and the total time, the song
time of each song, the start time of each song, and the remaining time of the recording part.
It is equipped with an AI search function that is about 300 times faster (about 600 times faster
at LP) using the TOC function.
As a result, it is equipped with functions such as AI search with TOC information, time skipping,
one-point memory, random play, and Fine Cue/Review.
Time information can be displayed, such as A-Time, which indicates the elapsed time from
the beginning of the tape, P-Time, which indicates the elapsed time from the beginning of
each song, and end marks, which indicate the end point of the recording.
The mechanism part adopts a 1.6mm flat chassis with a flat structure that has undergone
special processing, which reduces unnecessary vibration generated by the mechanism and ensures more stable tape running.
In addition, it is equipped with Pioneer's original cassette stabilizer that suppresses the vibration
of the cassette half, and the cassette half is sandwiched between the top and bottom special
rubber, and the left and right sides are pressed down with resin to firmly fix the cassette half and
reduce vibration.
The chassis is equipped with a large honeycomb insulator and a honeycomb chassis with
excellent vibration damping characteristics.
In order to reduce the negative effects of unwanted vibration of the drum, the structure of the
rotating drum has been fundamentally reviewed and a low-vibration and low-noise structure has
been adopted.
Direct construction is used for the input volume, and the signal from the analog input terminal
is input to the input volume in the shortest distance, reducing degradation due to routing of
the signal path.
