Commentary
A record player that uses a turntable equipped with a magnet float mechanism.
There were two variations: the TS-80, which used the FR-34S for the arm and the
SP-700A laboratory of Specs for the cartridge, and the TS-85, which had the FR-24S
for the arm and the FR-ImkII for the cartridge.
The belt drive turntable based on TN-202 is adopted as a turntable part, and the durability
is improved by the magnet float mechanism which floats a heavy-duty turntable with a large flywheel effect with a ring magnet.
Moreover, the hysteresis synchronous type is adopted as an outer, and the polyurethane belt
of a precision double-sided polishing finish is adopted as a belt.
It is equipped with a protection mechanism that does not operate the speed switching
mechanism when the power switch is off, preventing deformation of the belt.
The tone arm is equipped with a gyrostat mechanism that uses four ultra-precision
miniature bearings, as well as a stylus pressure direct reading scale, a lateral balancer, and
an arm elevation mechanism.
The head shell is made of aluminum alloy press, and the European standard is adopted for
the connector.
The step-up transformer is carried and the output of an MC cartridge is stepped up to 4mV.
In the case of MM type cartridge, by setting the switch to out, it can be connected as it is
without going through a transformer.
The cabinet has a walnut finish, and is equipped with an insulator to prevent howling,
a 4-point height adjustment mechanism, a unit-type arm mount, and a vertical shell.
