Stereo cassette deck with all-front central control system.

flywheel separately.

The head block uses a newly developed linear motion mechanism that keeps the head block
in place at all times, ensuring smooth operation without rattling.
The cassette holder has a double-action (two-stage operation) mechanism.
With this mechanism, the cassette lid comes to the front when the eject button is pressed and
then tilts sharply, making it easy to put on and take off the cassette. In addition, it is equipped
with a reverse insertion prevention device to prevent accidental insertion of the cassette.
The GX head is used for the re-recording head.
The GX head has a mirror finish, which minimizes deterioration of characteristics due to the
adhesion of dirt. In addition, clear sound is achieved by focus field recording with low
electromagnetic conversion effect loss in the high frequencies.
It is equipped with the ADR system, which is Akai's own noise reduction system.
If the recording input exceeds the saturation level of the tape in the high range, distortion due
to the demagnetization action (Nikaido distortion) will occur. This distortion causes beats in the
mid and low frequency signals, muddying the overall sound quality. In the ADR system, the
recording equalizer is changed depending on the frequency and recording level so that the
recording input does not exceed the saturation level of the tape in the high frequency, which
improves Nikaido distortion. As a result, input signals with a large number of harmonic
components can be recorded with good high-frequency characteristics without distortion.
It is equipped with Dolby NR as a noise reduction system to reduce hiss.
It is equipped with a tape selector in a three-position configuration and is compatible with
three types of tapes: ferrichrome, chrome, and low-noise tape. With this tape selector, you
can switch between four elements with a single touch: recording bias, recording equalizer,
recording level, and playback equalizer.
It is equipped with an MPX filter switch to prevent Dolby levels from being affected by the
19kHz pilot signal and its harmonic content when recording FM stereo broadcasts in Dolby.
For Dolby recordings other than FM stereo broadcasting, the high-frequency response can
be improved by turning the filter switch off.
